The Cedar Valley has 52 miles of multi-purpose nature trails. There are 5,000 acres of parks along a 10-mile corridor of the Cedar River with 800 acres of lakes available for public use. The area has minor league baseball and ice hockey teams. NCAA collegiate athletics can be enjoyed at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.


Arts and Culture

The Cedar Valley Area offers a rich diversity of cultural opportunities through the many art galleries, museums, libraries, theaters and a variety of performing arts. These include the Black Hawk Children's Theater, Cedar Falls Community Theater, Waterloo Community Playhouse, Strayer-Wood Theater at the University of Northern Iowa, Northeast Iowa Ballet Company, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra and the UNI School of Music.  

University of Northern Iowa's 115,000 square foot Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center can accommodate 1,600 concertgoers with the advantage that no audience member is more than 100 feet from the stage or more than 30 degrees off center.
