Targeted Business Recruitment
The Cedar Valley’s competitive advantage is its combination of
location, multi-modal transportation system, higher education
system, the size and base skills of the workforce, quality-of-life
attributes, and diverse economic base. Business recruitment
resources will focus on the creation of well-paying basic jobs to
increase personal wealth and operations that deliver higher
capital investments to expand the tax base.
Implement a targeted industry recruitment program. Focus
on a) capital intensive operations; b) utilizing a highly skilled
workforce; and c) those that can benefit from the
broadband/fiber optic capacities and other locational attributes
present in the Cedar Valley.
Develop an emerging business and industry database to
expand prospects. Conduct research on identified companies
to cultivate immediate and long-term opportunities for The
Cedar Valley based on specific needs of the company.
Establish and strengthen relationships with business site
selectors and their consultants in key sourcing markets and
conferences.
Implement Cedar Valley Events that bring target industry
decision-makers and their consultants to the area, providing
the opportunity to promote the business location and quality-of-life advantages of The Cedar Valley.
Collaborate regionally and leverage resources. Collaborate with
partners with similar marketing and existing business service
objectives, such as local economic development marketing
organizations, city development offices, utilities, railroads and
the Iowa Department of Economic Development. |
“Target’s and now Ferguson’s recent
announcements are compelling testimonials
to the business recruitment program we have
in place and the critical mass we have
created over the years.”
