Measurable Impact

Measurable Impact

To most major actors in The Cedar Valley economy, economic vitality translates to capital investment and job creation. The primary goals of the Fulfilling the Vision … A Five-Year Campaign for Economic Vitality include:

Jobs Target

Influence the creation and retention of 3,000 jobs in The Cedar Valley economy during the five-year period.

Income Growth Targets

Establish objectives to increase the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Metro Area’s average hourly wage impacted by Alliance efforts to a level above state average.

Business Development Targets

Retain, attract and expand: Bio-Product related industries; Manufacturers utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies; Financial Services; National and International Logistics Operations; and Information Technologies.

Treat as a priority the growth and attraction of the service industries that support the existing primary industrial operations and other major large employers in The Cedar Valley.

Capital Investment Target

Influence $500 million in new and retained capital investment during the five-year period.

Community Impacts

Coordinate the activities funded by the campaign with Tourism, Downtown and Cedar Valley TechWorks marketing operations and Chamber community development operations.

Encourage and lead coordination of marketing and communications operations of economic development marketing organizations throughout the Cedar Valley.

Work with major investors, stakeholders and partners to ensure the economic development initiatives are delivering the maximum positive impacts on the businesses, entrepreneurs and employees in the Cedar Valley.

Accountability and Investor Relations

Deliver each investor a systematic, structured program of accountability, communications, recognition and opportunity for feedback. Begin measurements of all goals by July 1, 2006 and conclude June 30, 2011.

To fund the economic development initiatives necessary to achieve these objectives, financial investments of $5 million will be sought from businesses, institutions, individuals and the public sector of The Cedar Valley. The campaign will ask for the first payment when the investment pledge is received. The Campaign may accept pledges in the form of in-kind services, depending on the demand for the services offered in the routine operation of the Alliance.

Campaign Implementation Budget

“Site selection is a process we take pretty seriously. Economic development officials made a favorable sales pitch to the company. At the end of the day, the Cedar Valley simply won out.”
