Waterloo Water is Cheapest

Waterloo Water Works officials often tout their products as a bargain.  And a national survey of 182 cities across the United States and Canada show show residents here may enjoy the cheapest water bills in North America.

According to Raftelis Financial Consulting of Charlotte, NC "Year 2002 Water Rate Survey", Waterloo carried the lowest rates for most levels of monthly usage and carries the third lowest bills for light and heavy industrial users.

 .......Waterloo's location---directly over the Cedar Valley Aquifer---is the key to keeping rates down.  The large fractured bed of limestone produces a seemingly endless quantity of nearly pure H2O streaming up the Water Works' wells, which requires little treatment before it heads to customers' taps.
