EAST COAST COMPANY LOCATES NEW MANUFACTURING DIVISION

Power Curbers, Inc. of Salisbury, NC has selected the Cedar Valley area to manufacture concrete paving equipment.  The company has formed a new manufacturing company, Power Pavers, Inc., to produce concrete slipform paving equipment.

Power Pavers, Inc., located at 1911 Lincoln St. in Cedar Falls, IA, will first manufacture a two-track machine for the residential market that will pave widths from 12 to 32 feet.  Other products will follow.  Power Pavers, Inc. expects to be fully operational by March 4, 2002.

Company President Dyke Messinger looked at other locations for Power Pavers, Inc. but decided on the Cedar Valley area due to the availability of a skilled work force and strong manufacturing based environment.

Fred Hite and Randy Hashman will manage Power Pavers, Inc.  "The product knowledge of Fred and Randy was a gig factor in making this happen," said Messinger in announcing the new company.  Both Hite and Hashman previously worked for CMI Corp. of Oklahoma City, OK and Curbmaster of Cedar Falls.  Together they have almost 50 years of experience in the concrete slipform paving industry.

"We really enjoyed working on this project.  Companies like Power Pavers, Inc. continue to diversify our local manufacturing base and complement the skills of our existing work force," added Carl Adrian, President, Cedar Valley Economic Development Corp.
